Workspaces
Workspaces in Movestax represent a logical segregation within a customer's subscription. Each workspace allows customers to create and manage connection links specific to that workspace. This structure helps organize and isolate different projects, environments, or teams within a single Movestax subscription, providing flexibility and control over how resources and tasks are managed.
Connection Links
Connection Links are the connections established between Movestax and your cloud tenants or on-premises environments. These links are created using credentials and/or service principals to securely connect to cloud environments. For on-premises environments, connections are supported through VPN, but customers need to coordinate with our team to set this up. It's important to note that on-premises environments are not supported for management features within Movestax; they can only be used as a source during migration processes.
Migration
The Migration feature in Movestax allows customers to move workloads from one source to a designated target. This process utilizes the established Connection Links or public access points (IP, DNS) to execute the migration. Migration streamlines the transfer of workloads between different environments, whether within the same cloud provider, across different cloud providers, or from on-premises to cloud.
Source Workload
The Source Workload is the specific workload that will be migrated. It represents the origin environment where the workload currently resides before being transferred to a new location or platform.
Target
The Target is the destination technology or cloud provider to which the Source Workload will be migrated. It defines the end location or platform where the workload will be hosted and operated post-migration.
Assessment
The Assessment process in Movestax involves evaluating the Source Workload to identify objects and configurations that need to be changed and determining their level of readiness for migration. During the assessment, Movestax typically converts and adjusts the code and configurations to ensure successful migration to the Target location. This step is crucial in mitigating risks and ensuring that the workload can operate seamlessly in the new environment.
